We aim to provide a safe working environment and ensure all services are delivered in a safe and responsible manner.
This policy is aligned with the principles of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.
2. Scope
This policy applies to:

All Rusko employees

All subcontractors and third-party service providers

All work carried out at customer properties or external locations
3. Responsibilities
3.1 Rusko Management Responsibilities
Rusko Services will:

Provide safe systems of work

Carry out risk assessments where required

Provide appropriate tools and equipment
-
Ensure staff and contractors are properly trained

Monitor health and safety performance
-
Maintain appropriate insurance cover
3.2 Employee & Contractor Responsibilities
All team members must:

Take reasonable care of their own health and safety

Take care of others who may be affected by their work

Follow all safety procedures and instructions

Use equipment safely and correctly
-
Report hazards, risks, or incidents immediately
4. Risk Assessments
Rusko Services will:

Review risks periodically

5. Safe Working Practices
5.1 General Safety

Always assess the environment before starting work

Do not carry out work if conditions are unsafe

Keep work areas tidy and hazard-free
5.2 Working in Customer Homes

Respect the customer’s property and environment

Be aware of pets, children, and vulnerable individuals

Do not use equipment or materials without permission
5.3 Manual Handling

Avoid lifting heavy items where possible

Use correct lifting techniques
-
Seek assistance where required
5.4 Use of Equipment

Only use equipment you are trained to use

Inspect equipment before use

Do not use faulty or damaged equipment
6. Chemicals & Cleaning Products

Use only approved cleaning products

Follow manufacturer instructions

Avoid mixing chemicals

Wear appropriate protective equipment where required
7. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Where necessary, PPE must be used, including:

8. Lone Working
As staff may work alone in customer properties:

Maintain communication with management where required

Report any concerns or unsafe situations

Do not enter a property if you feel unsafe
9. Accidents & Incident Reporting
All accidents, near misses, or hazards must be reported.
Rusko Services will:

Record incidents

Investigate where necessary

Take corrective action
10. Fire Safety

Be aware of exits when entering a property

Do not block access routes

Follow customer instructions where relevant
11. Subcontractors
All subcontractors must:

Comply with this Health & Safety Policy

Have appropriate insurance

Work in a safe and professional manner

Follow Rusko procedures
12. Refusal to Work
Staff and contractors have the right to refuse to carry out work if:

Conditions are unsafe
-
There is a risk to health or safety
No individual will be penalised for raising genuine safety concerns.
13. Training
Rusko Services will ensure that:

Staff receive appropriate safety training
-
Contractors are competent to carry out their work

Ongoing guidance is provided where needed
14. Monitoring & Review
This policy will be reviewed periodically and updated as required.
